The Dillydoun Review
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
We are currently closed for submissions.
Please check back in January 2023.
All submissions made prior to 10/13/22 are still being considered for publication.
The Dillydoun Review is an online literary journal. We do not yet have a print edition. We publish issues monthly, online only. We also publish TDR Daily (our blog), online only.
Work submitted is considered for both the upcoming issue and our daily publication.
Reading Period?
TDR accepts unsolicited submissions year-round.
What is TDR Looking For?
If it is good, we want to read it.
We are looking for short stories, flash fiction, prose poetry, poetry, creative nonfiction, articles, essays, interviews, and reviews.
Have an idea for something which falls outside the box? Pitch it here first.
All voices are welcome. However, TDR will not tolerate writing which fosters or promotes discrimination and hatred.
Word Limit?
If you have something wonderful, drastically beyond the word limit guidelines, pitch it here first. We rarely publish anything over 8,000 words.
Fiction - 1,000 - 5,000 - submit only one at a time.
Flash Fiction - up to 1,000 - submit up to three at a time.
Prose Poetry - up to 1,000 - submit up to three at a time.
Nonfiction - 1,000 - 5,000 - submit only one at a time.
Flash Nonfiction - up to 1,000 - submit up to three at at time
Articles/Interviews/Reviews - play it by ear - submit only one at a time.
Response Time?
If you haven't heard from us at the end of 12 weeks, feel free to email: thedillydounreview@gmail.com
Languages?
All voices are welcome but, at the moment, TDR is only able to read submissions in English.
Simultaneous Submissions?
We consider simultaneous submissions but ask that you notify us as soon as possible if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Previously Published?
We do not consider previously published work.
Payment?
We are now a paying market. We pay a flat rate of $20 per accepted story, flash fiction, poem, prose poem, nonfiction, or flash nonfiction. At this time, we are only able to pay via PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. We cannot make cash or check payments.
Author payment will be made on the day of publication.
Rights?
Upon acceptance, TDR acquires first worldwide serial rights and archival rights*. All rights revert back to the author upon publication.
*By archival rights we simply mean that, unless the author requests that we remove work, it will remain on the website for the life of The Dillydoun Review. We are more than happy to remove work at author request if, say for instance, you land an amazing publishing deal elsewhere and they wish all work to be removed from online publication. We're easy like that.
